A few days ago news broke that Sylvester Stallone is putting Expendables 2 on the back burner so he can make another action film titled Headshot  which you can read more about HERE. Now fellow Expendables stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jason Statham are preparing to set new roles up for themselves as well.

Arnold tweeted this message today via his TWITTER account @Schwarzenegger

"Exciting news. My friends at CAA have been asking me for 7 years when they can take offers seriously. Gave them the green light today."

So which film will mark Arnold's triumphant return to cinema? No official word yet but I'll be sure to let you know when the news breaks.

Meanwhile, Jason Statham who had been keeping his schedule clear for Expendables 2 may now be taking on the role of SAS Soldier Nick Stone, the famous fictional action hero originating from a series of novels by Andy McNab. The film will be titled Echelon and is based on the novel Firewall. The plot features Nick Stone (Jason Statham) getting caught between the Russian Mafia and western secret agents trying to get their hands on the Echelon computer program. As I said above, its not official that Statham has the role yet but here's hoping he gets it because the movie sounds awesome!!

The Hollywood Reporter revealed today that Sylvester Stallone has been cast to headline a new action thriller titled Headshot. THR describes the film as follows:

"Wayne Kramer (The Cooler) will direct Headshot from a script by Alessandro Camon (The Messenger). Kramer begins shooting in May in Louisiana and New York.

In the film, Stallone's character, a hitman teams with a young NYPD detective in a high-stakes investigation that leads from the dingy back alleys of New Orleans all the way to the power corridors of Washington, D.C.

The unlikely duo, brought together by two vicious murders, take on all who stand in their way, and are willing to sacrifice everything to exact revenge."

The film itself sounds cool but what happened to Expendables 2? The answer may be found with the busy schedules of both Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. We know for certain Sly wants Bruce Willis for a much bigger villain role in the sequel and its been assumed now that Arnold has finished his term as Governor of California that Sly would try and land him a larger role in the sequel as well. This is just an assumption on my part, Sly could have just wanted to do a different film before diving back into The Expendables. Stay tuned and I'll update you if I hear more.
