"They wanted me to be in 'Expendables 2' but I just didn't feel the role clicked. I was flattered that I was approached by the producers but I just didn't see the role they asked me to do being that intriguing. I didn't really want to do it but I'm open for anything. Doing a movie is a stressful thing. You spend months of you life focusing into that one project and I want to make sure I do something I really like or I'm really passionate about."
Not sure what Donnie Yen's role would have been but its likely for the best. I know we all want all of our favorite stars in these films but it gets to a point where if you have too many its almost impossible to give them all sufficient screen time. If they can talk to him again about a role in Expendables 3 that would work out better I think, as well as adding new action stars of course. EX2 should be a massive success so we can at least expect another film if not more.
Also, E Online is reporting that a fire broke out on the Hungary based set of A Good Day To Die Hard (Die Hard 5). No one was hurt apparently so that's great to hear, here's a little breakdown:
"There was a fire on the set of A Good Day to Die Hard in Hungary," 20th Century Fox said in a statement. "No one was injured by the flames, which occurred during a pyrotechnics stunt just after midnight CET on Thursday, and were contained a short while later. Bruce Willis, was not on set, nor were other principal cast. Principal photography on the movie began in April in Budapest, and is expected to wrap late summer."
Also of note in the article is that Patrick Stewart is credited as being part of the cast. Unfortunately this is not true. For a long time now IMDB has been listing Stewart as the primary villain of the film, which would be awesome, but there is no truth to it. Oh IMDB, that's why we love you....and we hate you.
Thanks to EX2 Blog and Melvin for the heads up!!
