An All-Female Expendables Film?

Apparently Expendables 2 Director Simon West is preparing an all female spin-off of the Expendables franchise....

He tells E! Online, "I like the idea of the Expenda-Belles where it's seven or eight women mercenaries. It would be Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz, Milla Jovovich, the list goes on. Helen Mirren, Jamie Lee Curtis would be great.

"It would be running parallel. They would meet up and then they would fight and they would join up and save each other."

Actor Terry Crews, who plays Hale Caesar in the movies, adds, "I would love to see Charlize Theron. She would be a sweet badass just doing some crazy stuff!"

How in the hell does the sequel, which clearly is better than the original and includes the first action from Schwarzenegger in 9 years and JCVD playing the villain, makes LESS money in its opening weekend than the original?

What the hell is wrong with people?

8.5 out of 10 is a great rate.

The Expendables 3 needs Seagal. 90% of the cast from The Expendables 2, says Seagal would make a great villain. So bring on SEAGAL for The Expendables 3!!!!!!!

Hey you can add this to the "review" section of the site if you want it is my review...no spoilers just a review...

A damn good time (should have been the first Expendables)

I’ll tell you what I did not think highly of the first Expendables film and I can even tell you why…I thought it was rushed and thrown together (cluttered). I thought Arnold Schwarzenegger’s role in the movie was not even needed at all and he was only in it because he was a big name. Part of the problem was he could only film for one day in the first film because he was still Governor of California and could only film on a weekend without the people of California becoming mad at him. It was also apparent Bruce Willis’s part was far too short as well but at least his role was needed. I thought the biggest disaster of “The Expendables” was how Mickey Rourke’s character was used it seemed like he had a story around the main plot of the story and it didn’t seem like he was needed either (certainly not as much as he was used anyway). Rourke did not have one action scene and it was almost always boring every time he was on screen. There was almost no action in the first Expendables until the end of the film and the editing was atrocious. Sylvester Stallone might want to stick to acting and not go into directing in the future (unless he is able to give his full attention to a film and not act in it like a Clint Eastwood). That being said, the Stallone, Willis, Schwarzenegger scene and the Stallone versus Austin scene in the first film were awesome. In the Expendables 2 critics might give Simon West shit here but you know what as far as I am concerned he did a decent, no, actually a damn good job. There was an actual pace to this film (something the first one was lacking) and you know what it was clearly because of West. I have to tell you as far as I’m concerned Expendables 2 was a blast! It is not going to win an Oscar and it sure as hell is not a masterpiece or even a great serious movie but it is also not trying to be. I can tell you one thing it was a wicked good time. Just sit back and don’t think too much just enjoy it. I mean do you think Predator, Die Hard, or Universal Soldier would ever win an academy award? All of my favorite action stars from the 80’s, 90’s and today all starred in an action film together and all were used properly to make it work. There were scenes that were funny, scenes with great action, and everyone was needed in the main plot of the story. The film is not in the same category as Rocky, Universal Soldier, Predator, Terminator, or even Die Hard but more like a True Lies, Nowhere To Run, Rambo category. None the less the movie is what the first Expendables should have been it was not rushed, had a shit load of action, and was well edited (thank you West and editing team). I can also say Sylvester Stallone, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, and the great Arnold Schwarzenegger were all in the film from beginning to end this time around and that really made the movie kick ass. I’d say it put the “Expendables 2” a tiny notch above that True Lies, Nowhere To Run, Rambo category just because of the adrenaline pumping cast! The script could have been better (it was better than the first one), but who cares? It was a fun time. As far as acting goes I would say Stallone was impressive he did not break character and you really felt his connection with Liam Hemsworth (granted some of Hemsworth’s dialogue could have been shortened during the plane scene). It was great to see Arnold Schwarzenegger back in an action film in a major role. Chuck Norris probably had some of the best lines as well as laughs in the movie. Jean-Claude Van Damme was also very impressive as the villain. I actually thought he could have been used more every time he was on screen he was in perfect character (evil and a bit crazy too). The “Expendables 2” turned out to be one hell of a ride! I’d say 7/10 for action fans, and 8/10 for the cast. Bring on Expendables 3 and let’s turn that cast rating into a 10 out of 10.

Although the poster is from the official production company, Arnold doesn't have his goatee on the poster and Sly has a goatee from EX1. plus Arnold's name is Rotmayer not Church anymore, they better update their website for their own movie, losers..

Lionsgate's The Expendables 2 is off to mixed results this weekend. After grossing an estimated $10.5 million on Friday, the ensemble action sequel is headed for an opening weekend take of $28.5 million. On one hand The Expendables 2 will easily lead the box office this weekend (and will have a very good chance of doing so again next weekend), but on the other hand the film will open below the $13.33 million opening day and $34.83 million opening weekend performances of The Expendables back in August of 2010. With such a weak line-up the next three weeks, there is the potential for The Expendables 2 to hold up better than The Expendables did, but the more front-loaded nature of sequels in general will be working against the film as well going forward.

Great review Patrick, here's my two cents on the film in one paragraph, and Pat let me know if you agree.

First off really good film no doubt, a great action movie and I loved it. But to me it wasn't perfect, the final shootout in the airport was the biggest problem in my opinion. It just felt too easy for them, like they didn't even break a sweat, and to me that dissolved a lot of tension and suspense when the bad guys could not fight back at all. There was just no challenge to the whole thing. The JCVD and Stallone fight was great though, and the opening scene of the movie is probably my favorite opening to an action film of all time.

Yeah I agree Trevor, we need more of the big names as villains in these films, everyone against JCVD seems way too one sided. It's great to have the team up, but they have to have a challenge to face.

The movie was GREAT!!!!!. I mean I'm sure everyone would have loved it if it would have been at least 2hrs long. And with Jean Claude Van Damme, I mean come on.......geeez.....talking about being in character and doing one hell of a job. He sure wasn't lying about trying his best to be in character. He was mean, uncaring, selfish....just unbelievable job from him. I really really hope they bring him back for the 3rd installment.

Great flick. What surprised me most was the comedy. There were some genuinely hilarious moments.

Van Damme's character was very UNDERWRITTEN. I hated that. It's so obvious Stallone didn't want him stealing the show like Heath Ledger did in The Dark Knight with Christian Bale. And for anyone who think's Van Damme couldn't have, you should know his performance in JCVD was praised by the likes of Time magazine as second ONLY to Heath Ledger's Joker in the same year.

Despite that, great flick. Love the action. Love the humor. Loved Van Damme kickin Stallone's head off. Lol.

Van Damme was great in EX2 , i just wished he used more of his trademarks on stallone... when they fought before they went down is was very intense and when they were in the other floor , this is where i wanna see JC beat Sly up and Sly would come back the way it ended...

*SPOILERS*

Yea it's like they were just two boxers both just throwing knock-out punches the whole time.

I mean Stallone had some of his "trademark" Rocky-ish boxing. And Van Damme had his famous spin-kick.

Other than that though it was just like two Rams butting heads. I see what they were going for with that, it did work to a degree, but it definetly could've been more thorough of a fight.

BTW. Yes. When Van-Damme kicked him down the second time I yelled out FUCK HIM UP. LMAO. Been waiting to see Van Damme on the big screen ever since I saw Bloodsport. Gotta love it. Lol.

i know lol at least kick his ass a little bit even Steve Austin beat up Sly much more than Jcvd , so i have a problem with that... for fuck sake its Jean Claude Van Damme a Martial Arts Action Icon , he deserved a little more of his stuff ...
