I'm sure that kind of idea must have been discussed a lot over the years, it's not extraordinary (what do you think 1992 UNIVERSAL SOLDIER was trying to do?) but various factors prevented it to happen un til now.

I also think that THE EXPENDABLES came out of the fact that Sly, Arnold, Willis and co should have been in Tarantino's INGLORIOUS BASTERDS originally. Sly must have been sorry it didn't happen.
