The title is pretty self explanatory. I thought 2012 was an amazing year for movies and I usually only do a Top 10 list but felt compelled to do a Top 20 this year. I enjoy a very wide range of films and I think it shows in my selections. Please feel free to comment with your own lists and what you think of mine!!

My top movies of this year are the raid redemption, safe, the avengers, dark knight rises, the expendables 2, resident evil retribution, and the amazing spider man. But good list of 20 movies, Patrick. Happy new year to you and everyone else!

Interesting how different people have different perspectives. IMO outside The Expendables 2, 2012 was one the shitiest years in the history of movies!

A year dominated by Comic Books (Avengers, TDKR, Spider Man), Chick Flicks (THG, Twilight, Magic Mike, The Vow), Cartoons (Brave, Madagascar, Ice Age, Dr Seuss, Wreck it Ralph, Hotel Transylvania) & Mediocre PG 13 Action Movies (Taken 2, MI4, Bourne).

Plus no creativity at all, just sequels or reboots. No one in Hollywood seems to have any new ideas, no original scripts, and the audience is so brain washed that they accept this mediocrity and pay for it!!!

They don't make movies like these anymore Taxi Driver, Rocky, First Blood, the Godfather, Apocalypse Now, Goodfellas, Raging Bull, Seven, Fight Club, The Matrix, Shawshank, Pulp Fiction, Memento, etc. Where is the real Cinema gone???

Worse of all, the Real Action Movie is DEAD, this is why the best movie of 2012 (The Expendables 2) did so poor in the US...
I'm looking forward to 2013 with BTTH, Last Stand, DH5 & The TOMBBBBB

so disappointed in your list man, the administrator of this site lists les miserables as his #1 and EX2 as #7, likes chick flicks and kid movies, WTF!!!!! Are you sure you're an action fan?

I like movies in general and when I pick a top ten (or in this case 20) list I want to pick from all across the board. I thought Expendables 2 was great but as far as the best movie of the year it wasn't close. That's my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own.
