“You can shoot people and blow things up and they say “Thank you! Take a monkey home with you!” We couldn’t have pulled off what we did (somewhere else). We blew up huge plots of land. It was like, Everybody bring their hot dogs. We’re having a BBQ today. We’re gonna blow up this village.”
Well it seems Brazil is taking this as a major insult towards them.....so let's set the record straight. Brazil, Stallone was not insulting you. What he is guilty of here is a poor choice of words. He was saying he chose to shoot in Brazil because of the kind of freedom he would be able to have in shooting the scenes he wanted to shoot. He then went into small detail about how the people of Brazil embraced it and welcomed it because it's not everyday a major Hollywood movie is shooting there with such an amazing cast. It's a different culture, a whole different world really when it comes to what is possible film making wise. You think they would be allowed to set off a massive explosion in the States? Should Sly have worded what he said differently? Yes absolutely. Was he insulting Brazil? No he was not. Maybe its time for a moment of reflection here guys, unless of course you have all never had anything you said taken out of context.
